Some of Utah's finest musicians coming together for "Christmas from the Ellen Eccles Theatre"

Nov 22, 2015

It is a cherished holiday tradition. The critically-acclaimed American Festival Chorus and Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Craig Jessop, will present "Christmas from the Ellen Eccles Theatre" on Thursday, December 3 and Friday, December 4 at 7:30 p.m.

There will also be two performances on Saturday, December 5 at 2 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m.

Dr. Jessop says the concert is a meaningful way to begin the holiday season. He, along with members of the chorus, are excited about this year's guest artists.

"Jenny Oaks Baker, the violinist that was with us a few years ago that everyone loved, Jennie Jordan Frogley, one of Utah's finest pop singers (she is so great, she's like Celine Dion, she's just marvelous), and then believe it or not Kurt Bestor called me and said, 'Craig, I had such a great time. Do you need me? Can I come back?' So we'll have Kurt Bestor back with us as well."

Jessop says along with traditional choral and orchestral Christmas favorites, AFCO's "Christmas from the Ellen Eccles Theatre" will feature new arrangements by Bestor.

The Westminster Bell Choir, directed by Cathy Bullock, also will perform. The event is celebrating its eighth year and Jessop says there are only a few tickets left. Call 752-0026 for more information.
